Interconnection required by CENACE

CENACE carries out the Interconnection and Connection studies, which consist of different analyses, to determine the requirements to carry out the Interconnection or Connection as well as the needs for improvement or reinforcement of the National Transmission Network (RNT) or the General Transmission Networks. Distribution (RGD), to ensure compliance with Reliability Standards and Market Operating Provisions.

The studies are:

Indicative

Its main objective is to provide feedback to the Applicant so that they can evaluate the feasibility of their project and decide to continue with the process, in the Individual modality or if it changes to be part of the Process for the Planning of the National Electric System (SEN), since this study analyzes preliminarily, the impact on the SEN when the Power Plant under study is interconnected.

Impact on the System

Its purpose is to evaluate in detail the impact on the National Electric System (SEN) when a Power Plant with a capacity greater than 10 MW is Interconnected. For these purposes, both the Steady State Studies and the Transient Stability Studies (Angular and Voltage) will be carried out under Normal conditions and in the event of contingencies, in order to determine the infrastructure requirements for the Interconnection and the Reinforcements or modifications in the National Transmission Network (RNT) and/or the General Distribution Networks (RGD) that are required to ensure compliance at all times with the Reliability Standards and the Operating Provisions, without limitations on the output power of the Power Plant under normal conditions.

In order to carry out this study, it is required as a requirement to previously request the Indicative Study.

Facilities

Its purpose is to document by CENACE the quantity, characteristics of the Elements and Equipment, as well as the estimated costs to carry out the Interconnection works, as well as the reinforcements required in the National Transmission Network (RNT) and/or or to the General Distribution Networks (RGD).

In order to carry out this study, it is required as a requirement to previously request the System Impact Study.

Impact Quick Version

Applies to Power Plants that make a request independently and with a capacity in the range between 0.5 MW and 10 MW, which are subject to a simplified study (“Impact on the System Quick Version”) through which the Works for the Interconnection and the Reinforcements required for the Interconnection to the National Electric System.

Additionally, a Facilities Study is required to document the quantity, characteristics of the Elements and Equipment, as well as the estimated costs of the Facilities.
