short circuit

The purpose of the analysis is to calculate the magnitude of the currents when a fault occurs in the electrical network.

The study determines the equivalent impedance at a point of interest where an insulation fault of an element of the System will be simulated, and with this, the magnitude of the current will be calculated when a single-phase or three-phase fault occurs.

The Short Circuit current is applied for the analysis of the Interrupting Capacity. Each protection device must have the capacity to operate in a short-circuit situation without being destroyed.

The applicable regulations are ANSI / IEEE C37, NOM-001-SEDE-2012 and UL 489.
