NOM compliance analysis
The legal framework under which electrical installations must be built is made up of the Public Electric Power Service Law and its Regulations, and the Federal Law on Metrology and Standardization and its Regulations,
Private electrical installations (“use”) are governed by Official Mexican Standards, the obligation of which is indicated in the aforementioned Laws and Regulations.
A significant percentage of accidents are due to electrical failures. The regulations applicable to the National Electric System (SEN) are not complied with by companies and organizations, however, it is mandatory, as it is published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
There has been a lack of action on the part of the government, coupled with the ignorance or lack of information on the part of company managers.
